[Salon] On the concept of 'diplomicide'... and more

Hi, folks--

In case you missed my newsletter today, you can now read it here.

In it, I developed the concept of 'diplomicide', namely a sustained campaign to kill not just one particular diplomatic endeavor but also the whole concept of diplomacy, as a valuable-- nay, vital-- tool of statecraft.

I humbly submit that this is what Pres. Biden and his team have been engaged in regarding Gaza for the past 55 weeks. Every month or so, Sec. Blinken puts on a grotesque vaudeville of a diplomatic "performance" which has increasingly served to mock not just the victims of the ongoing (heavily US-supported) genocide in Gaza, but also the whole practice, tradition, and norms of diplomatic engagement.

There's a lot more in the newsletter, too, of course. Including news from Gaza, from the world of book-publishing, from Tehran, and elsewhere...

You stay well-- Helena
